Voters are expected to decide the special election runoff for U.S. House of Representatives District 14 tomorrow, April 7. Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene will be replaced by either Republican Clay Fuller or Democrat Shawn Harris.
Only registered voters in District 14 can cast a ballot in the runoff. Advance voting is taking place at four locations listed on the Elections and Voter Registration page. Voters must go to their assigned polling places.
Keep Cobb Beautiful will hold its annual Sustainability Forum and Expo 3:30 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Jim Miller Park in Marietta. This event brings together sustainability-focused organizations and businesses within Cobb County with members of the public for hands-on learning opportunities, demos, and education.
The expo portion of the event will run 3:30 - 6 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony recognizing individuals and groups that have made contributions to Cobb's sustainable future in 2025.
Guests will enjoy live music, refreshments, and lively discussions with the county's leaders in sustainability.
The Office of Solicitor General Makia Metzger is now accepting applications for the 2026 Mock Trial Program. This week-long summer program is free and open to Cobb County Middle School students who are interested in the legal system and want to gain hands-on experience in a courtroom setting. Fun, educational, and recreational activities are included. The program, Justice in Action, will run 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday - Friday, June 1 - 5. The deadline to apply is April 10.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
Develop critical thinking and public speaking skills.
Learn from experienced legal professionals.
Experience a mock trial in a courtroom setting.

Cleaning house this spring made easier
Keep Cobb Beautiful will hold its next Community Recycling Event 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta.
Bring your electronics, metals, textiles, sneakers, paper for secure shredding, orange Hefty ReNew bags, and more. Crews and volunteers will direct residents through the lot and will help unload recyclables. Visit the Community Recycling Event page for more details on what is and is not accepted. Camp Puzzle is a free event centered on providing kids and young adults on the autism spectrum the opportunity to experience the different roles of Public Safety. The event will be held 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Cobb County Safety Village in Marietta.
There will be fire trucks, police cars, games, crafts, and much more. Most activities will be outside, except lunch (hot dogs, chips, fruit, bottled water) will be served inside our Education Building. The Cobb County Safety Village is located at 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. Only ADA service dogs are allowed.
In addition, Cobb County Public Library's Accessibility Services Department is also holding an autism acceptance reading challenge during April. Join a reading adventure that promotes understanding and take the opportunity to explore its resources. Explore the book list online.
Put the spring back in your step
Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta will feature greenery, entertainment, and many smiles this month with two overlapping events.
The Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County's annual Plant Sale and Expo will take place 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. April 17 - 18 at the Jim R. Miller Park Covered Arena. There will be homegrown plants, garden-adjacent gifts, locally-sourced honey, herbs, sauces, bird accessories, wood and glass crafts, yard art, and more.
Meantime, the free Spring Arts Festival will return 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Jim R. Miller Park Event Center. Visitors will be able to view and purchase spring-themed handmade goods, artwork, play at interactive art experiences, get a bite from food trucks, and watch performances.
UGA Cobb Extension is taking preorders for the Vidalia Sweet Onion sale. Each 10-pound bag of medium onions is $12. The fresh Vidalia Sweet Onions come from Morris Farms in Vidalia, Georgia. The deadline for preorders is 5 p.m. Monday, April 13.
You can also help families in need by donating a bag via a partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and the food pantry at St. Ann by the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
All pre-orders are accepted via mail or can be made at the office located at 678 South Cobb Drive, Marietta, Ga. 30060, during normal business hours 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday.
The onions will arrive the first to second week of May. Pickup will be at the office when they arrive. The final pickup date is 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. May 23.
Cobb County Senior Services is bringing back its annual Expo, a free showcase of resources on aging well, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Jim R. Miller Park and Event Center.
As the largest event of its kind in the area, the free event will feature:

Information and resources on health, wellness, financial planning, housing, safety, recreation, and more.
Free fitness demonstrations from certified instructors.

Cobb residents can bring their cat(s) and dog(s) to an upcoming microchip clinic 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the South Cobb Recreation Center, 875 Riverside Parkway, Austell.
Microchipping is essential for pets because it offers a permanent, lifelong form of identification, dramatically increasing the chances of a happy reunion if your pet gets lost. This Cobb County Animal Services event is for Cobb residents only and no registration is required.
