The Atlanta Braves, in collaboration with the Cobb County Safety Village, unveiled a scaled-down baseball field at the educational campus Friday. This new addition will provide kids from Cobb County and Marietta City Schools with the opportunity to learn about the importance of sports, health, and wellness.
Safety Village Director Allison Carter said the ballpark will help teach healthy choices such as hydration, the importance of wearing your helmet, and staying active 60 minutes a day. The facility is located at 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. Go here for more information about the Safety Village.

Come for the rides and food. Stay for the shows and exhibits. The North Georgia State Fair will continue throughSept. 28 at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta. This year's shows include motocross, a demolition derby, monster trucks, bull riders, magicians, a circus, a hypnotist, racing pigs, and Frisbee dogs.
Plan your approach to the park. All vehicles will be directed to County Services Parkway. Eastbound Al Bishop Drive will be closed to through traffic starting one hour prior to the fair opening each day. Westbound Al Bishop Drive will be two-laned for incoming fair traffic. Uber/Lyft pick-up and drop-off will be located at the Cobb Safety Village, 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. This year, parking is free.

The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office will host a community briefing 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Cobb County Public Safety Police Academy in Austell. This event will feature updates by Sheriff Craig Owens on agency initiatives, recognitions of outstanding service, and the graduation of the Citizens Academy class. The Cobb County Public Safety Police Academy is located at 2435 East-West Connector, Austell. Free onsite parking will be available.
The Cobb County District Attorney's Office will host a Night of Remembrance 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Cobb Superior Courthouse Jury Assembly Room. The event marks National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims, also known as the National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims. It honors the memory of victims and acknowledges the profound impact of violence on their families and communities.

The Man in Black tribute show this Saturday
"Cry Cry Cry: The Johnny Cash Experience," will take the stage at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre in Marietta 6 - 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. The live tribute will honor the icon and his music, covering every era of his career. The show is interspersed with storytelling and visual elements that bring audiences closer to the man behind the music, making it more than just a concert. Tickets are available here.

Walk for victims of violence
The annual Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event, presented by the Cobb County Domestic Violence Task Force, will take place 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, at Swift Cantrell Park in Kennesaw. This international men’s march raises awareness about rape, sexual assault, and gender violence. Participants will walk a mile in heels to show solidarity with survivors and spark vital conversations. All proceeds this year will benefit LiveSafe Resources and their mission to provide shelter, advocacy, and healing to those impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
The event is hosted in partnership with the Cobb County Domestic Violence Taskforce, Kennesaw Police Department, and Kennesaw Public Safety Foundation. Register here.
