With the winter storm forecast, there is an increased risk of frozen pipes. We encourage customers to prepare now by reviewing our Winter Weather Water Guide here and familiarizing yourself with what to do before, during, and after the weather event.
If you experience a major water line break with water entering your home or flowing into the roadway, shut off your home’s main water supply immediately. Please note that during freezing conditions, repairs cannot be completed until pipes have thawed and can be inspected for leaks.
If you request assistance and are able to shut off your water before crews arrive, please call back to have your address removed from the service list so we can prioritize other customers in need.
Cobb County is currently under an ice storm warning from 1 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday. Due to the incoming weather, county offices, facilities, and events will be closed from 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 through Monday night, Jan. 26.
Forecasters warn that significant ice accumulation is possible, with totals of up to an inch. This level of icing could lead to power outages, downed trees, and extremely dangerous travel conditions.
Travel may become nearly impossible, and Monday morning’s commute could be severely impacted.
Cobb crews are preparing for the winter weather this weekend and potential impacts to county government operations. Forecasters are calling for potentially dangerous ice accumulations across north Georgia, and low temperatures could allow icy conditions to persist into the early part of the work week.
