International Festival still seeking vendors

Calling all food wizards and merchandise maestros. The Cobb County International Festival wants you. Register now for vendor spots until July 25.

The festival will be held 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Jim R. Miller Park Event Center in Marietta. For more information, email SEUPARKS@cobbcounty.gov.

Vote in primary runoff

Tuesday, July 15, is the Special Primary Democratic Runoff for Public Service Commissioner. Those casting their ballot must do so between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at their assigned precinct. Find your voting location here.

Runoff voting eligibility:
✅ Yes, you may vote if you cast a Democratic ballot on June 17.
✅ Yes, you may vote if you did not vote on June 17 as long as you are registered.
❌ No, you may not vote if you cast a Republican ballot on June 17.

All-Star Game to make a big impact

Cobb aims for a home run with the 2025 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 15. The All-Star Game events will be spread around Truist Park, the Battery Atlanta, and the Galleria Centre. Lane closures and detours will impact roads around the Battery complex and the Galleria. More details are available here, and you can always check out the Cobb Commute app for the latest on road conditions in the area. Georgia Department of Transportation will suspend work and lane closures on interstates and state roads near the Truist Park area throughout the duration of the All-Star events.


The Capital One All-Star Village will be open at the Cobb Galleria Centre, through July 15. Enjoy live entertainment, interactive games, savor delicious ballpark fare and soak up the unbeatable All-Star Week atmosphere. The village includes batting cages, demos with current and former players, photo ops, a Gaming Zone with the latest baseball video games and more! More information and tickets are available here.

Learning about victim advocacy

The Office of Cobb District Attorney Sonya F. Allen is presenting the first Victim Advocate's Academy starting Tuesday, July 15. The free multi-week program is open to all law enforcement personnel and victim advocates. Each session begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Public Safety Police Training Academy, 2435 East-West Connector, Austell. The first session will be presented by the National Organization for Victim Assistance.

Application time extended for firefighter positions

Make a difference in Cobb County by joining the Fire and Emergency Services Department. Whether you're experienced or just starting out, there are plenty of opportunities available. You'll work 10 shifts a month on a 24/48 schedule. Applications are open through July 28. Paid training is provided. Find more info and apply here.

Get informed on the new county budget

Cobb County residents are invited to attend a virtual town hall focused on the county’s proposed budget 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17. Chairwoman Lisa Cupid and Chief Financial Officer Bill Volckmann will provide an overview of the fiscal outlook, highlight key priorities, and answer questions from the public. In-person public hearings are also being held on budget and millage this month. You can view these meetings and all commission meetings at cobbcounty.gov/CobbTV.

Commissioners reviewed details of the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget during a work session last month. This session offered an early look at the county’s financial priorities and planning efforts. Watch the work session here.

Whether you are exploring entrepreneurship, expanding your network, or simply seeking your next step. Featured speakers provide relevant content to meet you where you are and move you forward. Join the gathering this August to hear from John Loud, president and founder of LOUD Security Systems, who grew his basement startup into a thriving 50,000 square foot enterprise. Bring hard-to-recycle items to Saturday event

There will be a Keep Cobb Beautiful Pop-up, Drop-off Recycling event at the Cobb Civic Center, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Bring your glass jars, cans and cardboard plus hard to recycle items like take-out boxes, pickleballs, bubble wrap and more.

Recycle your broken pickleballs, wrappers, foam to-go boxes, snack bags and more. If you're serious about recycling, get some Hefty Renew Bags (orange) and fill them up with the stuff that is super hard to recycle. (Bags available at many large retailers.)

Also bring your filled bags to the next Keep Cobb Beautiful recycling event

Donate supplies to help kids start their school year

Numerous organizations in Cobb County are seeking your assistance to get backpacks and school supplies to kids. The District Attorney's Office, The Cobb Police Department, the Cobb Sheriff's Office, Cobb 911, Kids Care, Artportunity Knocks, Cook Kids Committee, and the Marietta Police Department. The Cobb County Water System 2025 Water Quality Report is now available. This annual report provides detailed information about the quality of the drinking water supplied to customers, as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The report includes data demonstrating that the water distributed by the Cobb County Water System continues to meet or exceed all federal and state quality requirements.

The report is available in both English and Spanish and can be accessed here. Customers who prefer a printed copy of the report may request one by completing the online Water Quality Report Request Form.

Free entertainment at The Art Place

Pack your picnic baskets and blankets for evenings of free entertainment on the lawn during Scene on the Green at The Art Place in Marietta. Gates open at 6 p.m., giving families time to settle in and socialize before performances begin at 7 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, with lawn and grass seating available, along with a limited number of bistro tables and chairs.
  • July 18-19: A Midsummer Night's Dream - Theatre Production
  • July 24: Inside Out 2 – Movie
  • Aug. 14: Twisters - Movie
  • Aug. 16: End of the Line - Concert
All events and parking are free and open to the public. The Art Place is located at 3330 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta.

The Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre will host An Evening of Soul with Raheem Devaughn, Eric Roberson and Tweet 7 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Doors will open at 6 p.m. This is a rain or shine event. Go here to purchase tickets.

The Kaiser Permanente Summer Movie Series also continues with Cobb PARKS, and you’re invited to enjoy free movie nights at the amphitheatre.

  • Aug. 1 – The Greatest Showman
  • Aug. 22 – The Peanuts Movie
For every movie, gates will open at 6 p.m. and the movie will start at 7 p.m. No tickets will be required. You can bring your own food and drink, and parking is free. First-come, first-served, rain or shine. The Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre is located at 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.

Pet fashion coming to Mableton

Save Saturday, Aug. 9, for Woofs & Whiskers: The Ultimate Pet Fashion Show at Mable House Arts Center. This event, held 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., will celebrate creativity and the bond between pets and their owners. Show off your style by designing matching or unique outfits for you and your petand strut your stuff down the runway to cheers from the crowd. Enjoy pet adoptions, shop for pet accessories, and experience a fun-filled day for all ages. Go here for more information.

Public input needed for bridge replacement

The state and county are seeking feedback about a proposed project to replace the Bells Ferry Road Bridge over Noonday Creek. The new construction, which would accommodate two through lanes with a 14-ft median and connection to Noonday Creek Trail, would be staged so that no off-site detour would be required.

The public is invited to review the project here and provide feedback by Friday, July 25.
